U Ndond'r

U Ndond’r is the second volume of my master's thesis exploring the ritual and iconographic identity of the Carnival of Putignano. While the first chapter, N’de Jos’r, investigated the historical and archival roots of the festival, this work focuses on the performative energy of its epilogue: the chaotic and noisy procession known as U Ndond’r.

The project translates the ritual into a contemporary visual device: a 3-color screen-printed leporello (accordion book), chosen to enhance the tactile and vibrant nature of the Carnival's iconography. By unfolding the structure, the viewer activates a continuous narrative that follows the allegorical procession, flowing from the sacred relics of Saint Stephen to the multiple visual and material incarnations of the Farinella mask.
